At the Portfolio Level of SAFe, work can consist of Development Value Streams. These Development Value Streams seek to create Solutions that benefit the broader business and the respective customers of the company.
Bush Agility was at a client site several days ago and in attendance we were touching upon how a company can embody what it is working towards. What a company work towards is oftentimes embodied by the Strategic Themes of that respective company. Strategic Themes connect the Enterprise Strategy of a company to the Portfolio Vision; that is, the future state of that company’s products. Strategic themes also correlate to the intended business outcomes that a respective company is seeking. Strategic Themes are best illustrated as Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). In the SAFe Lean Portfolio Management Class that we provide, we expand upon this topic further and we illustrate that as the Value Streams are working towards achieving the overall desired business outcomes of the company, these Value Streams can also be evaluated in terms of how they are performing in terms of assessing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to determine if gainful steps are being made in terms of completion.
For more information on this intriguing subject-matter, please do not hesitate to register for one of our SAFe Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) courses that will be taught in the next upcoming days whereby we do a deep-dive in terms of how SAFe can be leveraged to support Portfolio Executives of a company.
